Plane ticket…check.
Red finally feels like she's moving forward in life. She's got everything she ever wanted. She snagged the man of her dreams, her best friend Gavin, and her acceptance to medical school, all in the same summer.Bags packed…check.
Plane ticket…check.
Smiling brightly as she steps onto the plane to California, Jersey girl Red, knows it will be hard to be away from everyone she knows and loves, especially Gavin. But that’s okay, because they’re young and in love, and that’s enough…until it isn’t.
Three thousand miles from home, with no friends or family around her, she has to figure it out. With distractions around her at every turn, she has to decide what’s best for her. Will she stay the course, or will she be Distracted?
This story picks up where Distractions
left off. And just as the author states,
if you haven’t read book one, you will need to stop and read that first. A lot will be confusing if you try and cheat
and read this story first. You wouldn’t
skip episodes of your favorite soap opera and you shouldn’t do it with this
series. If you like stories where lives
are complicated then this is for you.
Gavin is having to say goodbye to Red for a few months. We’re also introduced to Gavin’s sister,
Lillian. Isabelle (Red) has a traveling
companion while she goes back to school.
Jake is someone that she already has a connection with – he is just one
of the secondary characters to watch out for.
Red shows how tough it can be when starting a new chapter in a place
that is far away from loved ones.
This is a story shows the sadness of those that are left behind
while a loved one has gone away for a while.
Red’s start at college life turns interesting. This just goes to show how creative the
author is. It’s a story that delves more
into who they are as individuals when Gavin and Red are away from each
other. For me, the secondary characters
stand out more than the main characters but it’s their interaction with Gavin
and Red that make the story so interesting.
One interesting secondary character is Nixon – he is something of
an enigma. He was definitely one of the
reasons that I couldn’t stop reading.
Another reason is that I felt that this book would stand up to any soap
opera currently on TV. Personally, I
would watch this before watching any of the others. If you’re a true soap opera fan, you do not
want to be disturbed while your program is on.
The same can be said about when you are reading this book. The story is left up in the air and the
author doesn’t give you any hints about another book.
