Phoenix’s life has changed but some things never disappear and that includes people from your past. Should she listen to her head or her heart? Zachary hasn’t really mellowed since his life seems to have changed for the better. This is a story that will give you romance, mystery, suspense and some true crime drama.
I’m happy that the author has continued their story in the first person. If you are a fan of this author, like me, you will already know that you have met these two before. Their story begins with The Land Where Sinners Atone. It’s been almost three years since their story began so you may want to revisit them. If you haven’t, I wouldn’t start here. It would be like starting a book or movie in the middle.
Our author creates scenes that will play out in your mind. I had visions of the first book being shown on the Oxygen or ID networks but now that we have a second book, maybe a series would be better. We have two separate mysteries that become entwined as the story progresses. The author made it tough to put down because I wanted to know whose mystery would be solved first. How would these mysteries affect the family dynamic? After everything they’ve been through, will we get a romantic ending? Or is there another mystery afoot?
