My Thoughts:
Vivien takes the reader on a journey through her past. And we know that her present is a culmination of that. She shows how the non-acting partner in a relationship can have a hard time. It’s not as glamorous as some may think. There are valid concerns that come out as the story unfolds as well as insecurities that can rear its ugly head. It can be a sad state of affairs.Reeve may be the love interest in this piece, and maybe I’m a little jaded, but I wasn’t much of a fan. He didn’t seem to have too many endearing qualities and I didn’t think he was taking Vivien’s feelings into consideration – she was too good for him. If an author can draw such a reaction out of me then you know how good they are at what they do. On the flip side, I was impressed on how strong she made Vivien. It was easy to want to be friends with her. To stand up and be her champion when she needed someone in her corner. Especially once the author adds in a twist.
She also feeds into my feelings on how good actors are at their jobs. How it can also weave itself into their personal lives. How do we know what to believe and what not to? How much of their skills do they use to get out of trouble. All of this pushes me forward to keep reading in order to get the inside scoop. And to see if redemption is possible. But the sad thing about a duet, you won’t have all the answers until you get through book two.
