I am the villain of my own story...
Jilted by my fiance.
A disappointment to my family.
Haunted by my childhood traumas.
I felt so much all my life that I resolved to feeling nothing at all.
Until I met my match.
As the most infamous mafioso of the 21st century, Dante Salvatore was madly passionate, unequivocally bad, and entirely too dangerous to know. He was everything I abhorred, yet I found myself representing him in the biggest criminal trial of the decade.
I was so focused on winning and achieving the success I deserved that I didn't notice the gorgeous black-eyed man's effect on me until it was too late. My icy heart had been held too close to his flame and now I wouldn't let Dante go down without fighting with everything I had in me.
Even if the cost of a new life with him meant the loss of my old life and everything I thought I held dear.

Elena is doing a favor for her sister even though she has reservations. She sees the world a little differently then you or I might. I thought it smart of the author to have the beginning chapters told from her perspective. This way the reader can get her impressions of who she thinks Dante is. As well as learning about her and what some of her thoughts and desires are.
Dante lets us know what his life is really about. He also helps to make up your mind about whether or not to read about Elena’s sisters’ stories. But it might push you to read them first. The good thing is that they don’t overtake this one. That might be a tough one.
To know more about Cosima, you will need to read the Enslaved Duet. It might give you an idea about her connection to her sister’s client. The other sister, Giselle, can be found in the trilogy titled The Evolution of Sin. Sadly we’ll have to wait before we can get acquainted with the brother.
If you are like me, this book was a revisit with an author that I haven’t read in a while. It was like getting reacquainted with someone you haven’t seen in a long while. And the book is our way of reconnecting.
She’s good at knowing when tension is needed. She knows how to create a scene that builds to some heavy steam between the main characters. And it comes at the perfect point in time. What she didn’t do is try and hook me from the start. She built my anticipation over time that I didn’t realize I was attached to the fish line until the story was almost finished.
