Trips to Canada’s wilderness for joint military training are something Easton always enjoys. But meeting the photographer contracted to take pictures of the base and trainees for new marketing materials adds a whole new twist to the trip.
A twist Easton quickly realizes has a dark undertone.
Summer knows she gets lost in her art to the point she’s been called ditzy, forgetful and many other less pleasant names. But her passionate nature has an outlet, and she loves traveling for her work. It also means she doesn’t always take care of herself as she should.
When she’s stalked, then attacked, Easton soon realizes Summer has stepped into something dangerous and needs his help to stay alive.
Especially when the violence escalates…and he comes close to losing the one woman he can’t seem to stay away from.
My Thoughts:
Easton Gallagher meets Summer
Jones in a most interesting way. She’s
not trying to but she’ll get you laughing.
Some may say she’s an airhead but I would say her brain just works
overtime. You could also say that she
really loves her job.
I got to chapter three and knew
that I need to check out more of this series.
Our author had a way that grabbed me as soon as our main characters
met. She gives me just enough to get me
to laugh. She hooks me first with the
laughter but then slides the suspense in.
Don’t know which I liked more the humor or the mystery but it’s a
combination that works very well here. And our main characters aren’t jumping
each other’s bones right out of the gate – it’s all about building the story.
What’s good about this book is
that I don’t have to read the twelve books that came before in order to enjoy
this one. It’s a book that can stand on
its own but it’s also a good incentive to check out the other SEALs that I’ve
already missed. Now I won’t get them all
read before book fourteen comes out in October but that’s ok I’m sure that I’ll
get them all read at some point. And
book sets are a great way to go too.
One thing with Summer was that
she never really freaked out with everything going on around her. This just shows the faith that she has in the
people around her. But she has a few
surprises up her sleeve that adds to our enjoyment of this story. I loved her protectiveness toward men that
she hadn’t known very long. It was great
to see that the easy banter between Easton and Summer carry all the way to the
end. And the ending is a look into what’s to come.
