InkSlinger PR Presents: Defying Her Mafioso by Terri Anne Browning; #BlogTour, #OutNow, #Review

DEFYING HER MAFIOSO by Terri Anne Browning is now LIVE!

This is the 1st book in a brand new series, The Vitucci Mafiosos

Rating: 4.5 Stars
Told in the first person.

Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from InkSlinger PR and from the author. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Ciro Donati was many things:
My father’s most valued and trusted soldier.
My brother’s best friend and second in command.
And the only man I would give up everything for.

I fell hard for the Mafioso at the tender age of eleven. This beast of a man who I knew made people disappear—and probably enjoyed every second of it—was also the sixteen-year-old boy who had picked me up after I’d fallen flat on my face during my dance recital and told me I was the best ballerina he’d ever seen. He’s watched over me, protected me like I was the most precious thing in the world to him.

And then he sent me away.

Scarlett Vitucci was many things:
The daughter of the biggest Cosa Nostra boss from New York to Chicago.
The sister of the man I would gladly take a bullet for.
And the only woman I would ever love.

Sending her away was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I didn’t deserve her or her love. For three years I stayed away, ignoring the gnawing ache that her absence left in my chest. Now, she was back and fighting what I felt for her was impossible. Letting her go had been a huge mistake.

One I would never repeat.

My Thoughts:

Scarlett Vitucci loves to push her family’s buttons.  She shows that family life isn’t easy when your father is a very powerful boss.  She has a sister, Victoria, that even though they may be total opposites they seem to be very protective of each other.  But Victoria likes to stretch boundaries.  Scarlett knows how to take care of her – even though she makes it difficult.  Ciro Donati is a man that can be both violent and concerned.  He’s also very good at lying.

At times the author had me so riveted that I hated having to put the book down.  It was hard to believe that this was the first book in the series.  There were some characters that you felt that there was a story there waiting to be told.  Ms. Browning is great at creating tension between our main characters and she does it without crossing the line.  It’s also a story that builds from scene to scene and without any sex scenes that I felt would cut in to my enjoyment of what she had written.  But don’t worry because she adds it in at just the right moment.

Now the author could have just continued with this tension but she turns things up by adding in some suspense.  She doesn’t get too graphic with the violence but gives you enough to have no trouble picturing the whole scene in your mind.  She also includes a second story between Victoria and Adrian Volkov that leaves me wondering if we’ll see them again.

I liked seeing the connection that these two sisters had and it reminds me what I miss out on since I only have brothers.  Scarlett is the tough as can be mother hen and will protect her sister any way she can.  Victoria has a condition that requires her to be careful but that doesn’t stop her from trying to spread her wings.  Then you have Ciro who is trying to be an honorable man, which is hard considering his profession, but you see how hard that becomes when Scarlett reenters his life.  The ending leaves me looking forward to when book two comes out.  When that is I have no idea but she has plenty of other books I can read in the meantime.

Terri Anne Browning is the USA TODAY bestselling author of The Rocker...Series. She started writing her own novellas at the age of sixteen, forcing her sister to be her one woman fan club. Now she has a few more readers and a lot more passion for writing. Being dyslexic, she never thought a career in writing would be possible, yet she has been on best selling lists multiple times since 2013. Reese: A Safe Haven Novella was her first Indie published book. The Rocker Who Holds Me changed the tables and kicked off The Rocker... series featuring the sinfully delicious members of Demon's Wings. The Rocker... Series has since expanded to OtherWorld with Axton Cage and his band members. Other books by Terri Anne include the Angel's Halo MC Series as well as The Lucy & Harris Novella Series. Terri Anne lives in Virginia with her husband, their three demons---err, children--and a loveable Olde English Bulldog named Link.
