Enter Simon Mulroney, the handsome and cocky CEO, who uses people as if they’re extras in his life. With his careless attitude, he treats everyone like they're beneath them... until his new assistant walks in and gives as good as she gets.
The chemistry between Sydney and Simon is undeniable, but so is the mutual distaste. Determined not to back down, Sydney digs in her heels and fights back. And in doing so, may be the only person capable of breaking her beautiful bastard of a boss. If he doesn’t break her first.
Sydney Andrews is a woman who has high aspirations for her future
but it’s not off to a good start. Simon
Mulroney seems to be the boss from hell – or at the very least he seems to
bring out the worst in people. If you
like to laugh then you will love one of our secondary characters, Eryk.
I haven’t had much to laugh about lately and Eryk was just what I
needed. He reminded me of Patrick Swayze
in Too Wong Foo Thanks for Everything,
Julie Newmar. If you haven’t had a
chance to check the movie out, take the time this summer and then read this
book and maybe you’ll think the same thing.
The one thing I hoped as I got to know Eryk was that he gets his own
story. The not knowing if Sydney and
Simon are going to have a relationship is what will be your page-turner.
I thought that this story was more of Sydney’s then of Sydney and
Simon. We see her trying to make a name
for herself, and willing to start at the bottom, in a market where most people
don’t succeed. But I persevered through and by the time I got
toward the end of the story, Simon redeemed himself. For most of the book I thought Sydney had
more of a connection with her roommates instead of trying to forge a
relationship with Simon.
But I’ll be going on vacation soon and I look forward to reading
the story again while relaxing while looking out at the ocean. Maybe once the stressors of my life take a
backseat for a while, maybe I’ll have a different perspective on the
story. And I’m not giving up on the
author so I’ll just have to see what else I want to try sinking my teeth into.
