Blurb:

Denai witch, Cate McCray should be enjoying married life with her new elemental husband, Jason. But their arrival in a new city soon has them stumbling headlong into a new case with dangerous connections to the very people that govern their world.

Cate and Jason face opposition from those they once considered allies. Together with their team of enforcers, they must find the killer before anyone else dies.

With danger from all sides and the threat of ancient, dangerous magic, the team must pull together and use all their strength to find their enemy before disaster strikes.

My Thoughts:

Cate McCray is a woman who knows how to take care of herself. Her husband, Jason, is right by her side. Who doesn’t love a story where husbands and wives can work together and the wife can kick some major butt. She also has some special powers that involve her mental capabilities as well as her physical. Even the secondary characters are important to how the story evolves.

One thing that becomes apparent early on is that in order to understand the wonderful world that this author has created it would be in your best interest to start with book one titled Denai Touch.  It will give you some sense on how our couple comes to be.  In this book, I could sense the prejudice that our couple has to face – even from their own relatives.  It’s a story that you can relate to.  But it’s scary too in that this could also be our future – you never know.

I found it very easy to get sucked into the world of Denai.  One thing that I love about this genre is that there are no limits to the world that an author can create.  They have free reign on where they want to take their readers.  The authors don’t need to worry about being historically correct.  It can be difficult too because our author has the tough job of making sure that her world stays consistent through each book.

The only sad part I had was the fact that I can’t travel to this new world that I have discovered.  But the good news is that I can go back and revisit both Cate and Jason at any time.  I can also look forward to the next book coming out titled Denai Storm.  And you will notice that the ending is open ended so that if you want to know what happens next you need to continue to the next book.  So don’t expect a happy ending – yet.  Something I was glad about was being asked to join this tour.  I would never have found this author otherwise – and isn’t that sad but it worked out in my favor in the end.
