Caterina doesn’t know yet how things are about to change. Rex is a man who expects his requests to be answered and obeyed. Their story caught my attention almost from the beginning. If it catches yours as well, you may end up getting this story read in one day.
This is actually a mix of two stories. We have the personal story of one who seems to be fighting the inevitable and the other who knows what they want. Rex is very specific but is Caterina going to be a willing participant. The second story is what is happening to those that are in a family group.
Getting to see how Rex gets Caterina to do what he wants was interesting to watch. Seeing how she fights at every turn is part of the reason that you don’t want to turn away. Is it a game of cat and mouse? Or is it more like fencing but without a weapon? I had a hard time deciding if their personal side of the story would win over the mafia portions.
Rex wants something from Caterina that she’s never experienced before. But there were times that I was looking for more – at times the heat seemed a little tame. By the time I finished this book, I was left wondering if that more was going to show itself in the second book. Or is what’s happening with the society that ends up being the more. Will need to read the second book in order to get the answers I seek.
