Snippet:
“Mind escorting Jessie’s friend up to our seats?”
“Not at all,” Wyatt said with a charming smile, sidling closer to Ashley. Aware he was checking her out from the top of the hat to the tips of her floral embellished boots, Ashley felt the full power of her feminine charms.
“I’m Wyatt Nash,” he said, introducing himself as he tipped his hat to her.
“Yes, you are,” Ashley said in a husky voice that made one of his dark eyebrows wing upward. “I’d say it’s a pleasure to meet you, but so far, it hasn’t been.”
The startled look on his face when she tipped her head back and smiled at him made her want to crow with glee. He winced, as though he expected her to slap him at any moment. Instead, she leaned against him, pulled his head down until her lips brushed his ear, and whispered, “Payback isn’t gonna be pleasant, cowboy.”
Before she let him go, she pressed a kiss to his cheek, leaving behind a bright ruby stain from her lipstick. Her index finger trailed over the slight cleft in his chin, then she patted his chest. His heart thumped in a hasty staccato beat against her palm.
She stepped back with a coy look on her face, demurely batted her long eyelashes at Wyatt, then finally turned to Chase.
“I don’t think I require an escort, cuz, but thanks for the offer.”
