My Thoughts:

Growing up, life wasn’t kind to Kevin “Nine” Clearwater. He’s a good example that you never know what someone’s been through. His is a case of not knowing whether “the system” actually works or not. Our story shows how sometimes the adult fails the person they should have sworn to protect. This was an interesting way to grab the reader’s attention. It shows how someone’s past can mold his or her future.

It was also a dark way for our author to start her story. It’s also a sad way to introduce us to the main character. I didn’t see a warning at the beginning but it’s possible that your copy will include one. If you’ve had a rough childhood and certain things are a trigger for you than this may not be the book for you. But if you’ve risen above that or if you’ve already read the author’s King or Preppy series than you will want to add this to your library.

Lenore “Lenny” Leary shows how hard it can be to cope with everyday life. She also had a lot going on but a lot different from Nine. Her life doesn’t get much better when she’s an adult. I tend to think that Murphy’s Law is at work here. Once Nine comes into her life, all I could think of was the movie Moonstruck. I could picture her as being a younger version of Loretta Castorini – taking artistic license here. But I think it’s more of that I could picture a younger Cher in Lenny’s place. I can’t picture Nicholas Cage as Nine unless he bulked up – a lot (still can’t picture it).

I was glad that this was a standalone. It would help to have read her Preppy series since he appears in this story. This is one author that’s I’ve wanted to read for a while but I’m constantly sidetracked and then I see another of her books coming out and think I’m going to change and pick up a book. I decided nothing was going to stop me from reading about Nine and Lenny – best decision I could have made. On the downside, my TBR list has grown by quite a few books. And I’m not complaining about that.

One thing I liked was that it took the whole story in order to get to know her main character. It makes it more realistic since we constantly learn something new about the people in our own lives. You want him to have something good in his life and I was glad to see that he got that. It was nice to see that after such a rough start, he has something to be happy about. Now it’s time for me to read his family’s stories – unless I get sidetracked again.

T.M.Frazier.jpgAbout the Author:

T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls sexy‘wrongside of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she's not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.
