Synopsis:

Larkin Mancinkus prides herself on making the town of Whynot, North Carolina just a little sweeter. As owner of Sweet Cakes Bakery, Larkin gets all the town gossip – the sugar, the spice, and the everything not so nice. So when she finds herself on the tip of everyone’s tongue thanks to an encounter with a mysterious and handsome stranger, she learns the true meaning of ‘if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Deacon Locke has spent his life traveling the world with no particular destination in mind. But when he rolls into Whynot on his Harley, he just knows there is something different about this town. What he doesn’t know is that out of all the places he’s traveled and all the people he’s met, the gorgeous bakery owner might just entice him to put down some solid roots.

Come on down to see what’s cookin’ between Larkin and Deacon!

My Thoughts:

Larkin Mancinkus seems to have a tug of war going on between her mind and her heart.  She has some self-esteem issues that may have something to do with her body issues.  Deacon Locke knows how to leave someone speechless.  He may seem cocky but he knows how to treat a woman right.

Creating a character that’s less than perfect must be a tough thing to do.  I applaud that the author was up to the challenge.  I’m sure that there are plenty of readers that can identify with it.  I was also glad that the author created a man that seemed to accept that challenge.  The setting may be around a holiday but it’s a story that could be read at any time of year.  With Sweet Tea in the title of the series, finding an outdoor spot to read while sipping your own tea sounds like a nice idea.

This was a nice way to revisit the Mancinkus family.  It was also a reminder that I have missed one book in the series, Stubborn As A Mule.  You will meet two characters, Mely and Lowe, and if you don’t know who these two are than you missed that book as well.  The good news is that the book can be considered a standalone so you can catch up, like me, at any time.  Maybe this is your first book, you can expect to laugh – our author is very good with the humorous moments.  She’s very good at creating a man who’s not sure what he believes anymore.  And she’s also very good at creating plenty of heat between her main characters.  The sad part is that our visit to WhyNot is now over.  But the good news is, like in real life, we can go back and visit at any time.  This is a series I won’t mind visiting more than once.

About the Author:
