Synopsis:
Having just taken the helm of a nationally renowned protective services company, Kynan McGrath is looking to rebrand and revamp his career. The newly crowned Jameson Force Security is moving from the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas to the mountainous steel town of Pittsburgh, and the last thing Kynan has time for is to deal with his past.
More than a decade has passed since their split, but even a bruised and battered heart remembers its first love. So when Joslyn Meyers comes to him for help, Kynan reluctantly agrees to keep her safe from a terrifying stalker who keeps threatening her life.
As the danger they face continues to intensify, Kynan realizes he’ll stop at nothing to protect the woman who turned her back on him all those years ago. Because one thing is certain—no matter how hard he tries to convince himself otherwise, Joslyn still has his heart.

My Thoughts:
Kynan McGrath can multitask between business and his personal time. Joslyn Meyers is in a position where things seem a little surreal. I loved that even though our author is starting a new series, she sneaks in a mention of another. Upon further investigation, I’ve actually met Kynan before. You may have also if you follow the author’s Wicked Horse Vegas Series.
If you’ve not read the book Wicked Favor, than you may want to start there first so you can get the full effect of who Kynan really is. One thing I missed the first time around, or just don’t remember, is that he has an accent. If you have read the book before, and it may have been awhile since it came out in 2017, you may want to take a second look. Knowing he has his own book now you may see him through a different set of eyes. I certainly will read with an accent the next time around. But there’s still the fact of the history between our couple. For that you need to check out the book Wicked Force and that is one that I have not read yet. You certainly don’t need to read either book in order to enjoy this story.
Things happened in our main characters past that have led to some distrust. They are both now older since they first met but will it be a walk down memory lane. Besides hot and steamy our author gives us some action and adventure. Even though Kynan sets us up for the rest of the series nothing seems rushed or felt like scenes went on too long. I liked how the author created a male character that seems like this stoic alpha male but every once in a while you’ll see how compassionate he can be. I also liked how our author created a female character that had some personal concerns but wasn’t afraid to ask for help from a man she’s so unsure of. And the author knows what type of ending her couple needs. I look forward to seeing where this series is going to go. It will be some time before the second book will be coming out so that gives me plenty of time to go back and get to know Kynan from the beginning.
About the Author:
A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.
Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active daughter, as well as full-time servant to her adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or even better, both.
Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.
