Lucian Audiobook Cover

Amazon Audible:

Lucian Marcello is aware of the expectations following him as the oldest son of one of North America’s most infamous Cosa Nostra Dons. Family in his world is more than blood and sharing a last name. It’s the honor, respect, business, and the life. Being a Capo is just a stepping stone until it’s time for him to take on the role of underboss but a chance meeting with her could be the one thing he’d risk it all for.

She is exactly what he didn’t know he was looking for.

Jordyn Reese spends her time trying to stay under the radar of a man who wouldn’t think twice about killing her. Unwillingly affiliated with a dangerous MC gang, her life is dominated by the men surrounding her and her future rests solely in how useful she can be for them. The last thing she needs is some Mafioso gaining her more unwanted attention from the club.

He is everything she should stay away from but can’t.

Notoriously violent when it comes to getting what he wants, Lucian will stop at nothing to make the target on Jordyn’s back disappear. But sometimes the worst threats are the ones you can’t see until it’s too late. The truth behind Lucian’s history is about to take center stage in more ways than one, and it’ll either save him … or kill him.

This world leaves everyone a little filthy.

Filthy Marcellos, Book One

Filthy Marcellos: La Cosa Nostra is not just a choice of regime and routine, it’s a culture. Born as mafia royalty, the Marcello brothers were raised ingrained with the beliefs and rules of what it meant to be a Mafioso prince. It is for life. Their status is considered a given right. They will always be these people. They will always be Marcellos.

Lucian Teaser

My Thoughts:

Would you consider the audio edition of Lucian to be better than the print version?

This was a case of listening to the book first.  This was a great incentive to get the book.  Just like a movie brings a book to life, so does the audio version of a book.  We get to have a voice that we just wonder about tell us, in this case, his story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lucian?

It was more than a moment but it was how protective Lucian was of Jordyn.  What's more romantic than having the man you love try to protect you from things that only want to hurt you.

Which character – as performed by John Thrust – was your favorite?

It would have to be Lucian.  Even though we don't see the narrator on a screen, his voice is what brought the character of Lucian to life.  Having an accent helped in understanding more of who this character was and where he came from.  It also added a passion to a character that would have been totally different had I read the book instead.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't know if you could say that it moved me but it certainly had me wanting more.  The ending has me on pins and needles waiting to see what the author will have in store for Giovanni Marcello and who will be the narrator.  I see that his story isn't in audio form yet so I don't know how patient I will be because I don't know how long I can wait.  This just means that in that particular case I may have to read the book first and then get the audio version.

Any additional comments?

The book gives you some sense of how "violent" being in an MC or a mob family can be - also the effect is has on loved ones.  It also shows that they have feelings like anyone else but how they go about protecting those they love is just a little different.  Would I recommend this?  Yes I would.  If you're a fan of Bethany-Kris already then make sure to check this out.  Maybe you're a lover of MC romance or Mafioso romance then you may want to add this to your library (be it in print or in audio form).

I wanted to be an actor as far back as I can remember, but I was never attracted to the lifestyle.

In school whenever the teacher asked someone else to read aloud I remember often thinking, “You’re not reading it right, let me do it”.

In college my communication degree required that I take oral interpretation classes. I took first and second level classes and crushed them.

I ended up in radio. A comprise, of sorts, to acting. I did the commercials and loved doing goofy character voices; sexy huh?

During that time I did a local theater production and the director said I should go to the big city and get working.

Sometime later I auditioned to train for The Second City’s touring group. I got in and was doing well… but… the lifestyle.

I’ve been dabbling in voice acting for many years and have been recording audio books along the way and so… here I am.

I’m OK with the lifestyle.

I do hope folks like what they hear and to all those who listen I say, “thank you!”
