This is the first one I’ve ever read where the cover model and the
photographer are mentioned. I say about
time – the cover is a great inspiration as you read the male character’s story.
Synopsis:
You’re the Keys
Loki’s life was a lie. Everything he’d done for the last eight years was under an assumed name for the Benton Police Department. He’d lied, cheated, and stolen all in the name of the law. He wore himself thin, and not even the open road could take away the pain anymore. Then his little next door neighbor moved in, and suddenly he had a reason to get out of bed every morning. Except he was an officer of the law, and a member of a prominent motorcycle club in the area, The Dixie Wardens MC. Neither of which she could deal with.
To My
It wasn’t the scars that covered her new neighbor’s body that scared Channing. It was the badge. The fact that he belonged to The Dixie Wardens MC was only icing on the cake. She should be running away as fast as her legs could carry her. But there’s something about Bryce ‘Loki’ Rector. Something that eased the unreasonable fear she felt every time she came into contact with something that reminded her of her past.
Cuffs
They say love isn’t easy, and it definitely isn’t for the two of them. Loki has to learn to feel again, and Channing has to learn to live. Their road isn’t an easy one by any means, but Loki makes two promises. One, he’ll never let anything hurt Channing again. Two, it’d be over his dead body that he’d ever let her go.

My Thoughts:
Bryce “Loki” Rector did his good deed for the day. Channing has a very unusual profession and
this is just one thing that shows how creative our author is. The female character is not a pencil thin
model but a woman who has her favorite foods.
I had to laugh at her allergy – you’ll certainly understand when you
read this book.
These two characters certainly know how to push each other’s
buttons. The reader relies on the
author’s use of words to get across how needy these two are for each other. And Channing is a woman with spunk so be
careful if you make her angry. She and
Loki seem to be perfect for each other.
And this author certainly knows how to lighten a serious moment –
it’s a great way to let the stress of the day disappear. She has included a holiday theme but it
doesn’t overtake the storyline so you can read this book at any time of
year. When I got to the three quarter
mark, you would think that the author would start to tie up any loose
ends. Not here – the author kicks it up
a notch and leaves it so you have no choice but to continue to read. So here’s a warning – don’t plan on finding a
good place where you can stop. There isn’t
one until you get to the very end.
I was lucky enough to read the second book in this series and am looking
forward to reading the others so that I can get caught up. One thing that I’ve noticed is that it’s alright
to read this series out of order. I didn’t
feel confused about the characters just because I haven’t read book three. But if you’re a fan of the MC then you will
want to make sure that this series, by Lani Lynn Vale, is somewhere on your TBR
list.
