#CoverReveal: More Than Tempt You by Shayla Black; #ComigSoon, #TBR, #PreOrder

I romanced her for revenge…but what if she’s not the enemy after all?

I’m Clint Holmes. I was an ambitious guy with a busy life and a growing business. Sure North Dakota wasn’t a tropical paradise, but I was happy enough—until tragedy struck. Now the only thing that matters is finding the person responsible and making her pay. But Bethany Banks is a Harvard-educated shark used to swallowing her enemies whole while playing dangerous corporate games. How can a blue-collar oil man like me possibly beat her?

The moment I lay eyes on my beautiful nemesis, the answer is obvious. I seduce her.

On Maui, where she’s fled, I get to know the man-eater who caused my family so much pain…only to find she’s not the brazen ballbuster I assumed. She’s skittish, secretive, vulnerable. For some reason, my instinct is to protect her. I can’t abandon my plan…but I can’t stop wanting her. Night after night, I pry her open with my touch until I’m drowning in our passion. Soon, I’m questioning everything, especially the fine line between love and hate. But when the past comes back to wreak vengeance and the truth explodes, can I prove that I’m more than tempted to love her forever?

Shayla Black is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than sixty novels. For nearly twenty years, she’s written contemporary, erotic, paranormal, and historical romances via traditional, independent, foreign, and audio publishers. Her books have sold millions of copies and been published in a dozen languages.

Raised an only child, Shayla occupied herself with lots of daydreaming, much to the chagrin of her teachers. In college, she found her love for reading and realized that she could have a career publishing the stories spinning in her imagination. Though she graduated with a degree in Marketing/Advertising and embarked on a stint in corporate America to pay the bills, her heart has always been with her characters. She’s thrilled that she’s been living her dream as a full-time author for the past eight years.

Shayla currently lives in North Texas with her wonderfully supportive husband, her teenage daughter, and two spoiled tabbies. In her “free” time, she enjoys reality TV, reading, and listening to an eclectic blend of music.

A Love So Sweet
Our Sweet Destiny
Unraveling The Truth About Love
The Art of Loving Lacy (on pre-order for May 8th)

Excerpt:

Riley Banks hurried down Thirty-Seventh Street in her red Catherine Malandrino dress and Giuseppe Zanotti leopard-print, calf-hair pumps. It was the week after Thanksgiving, and Manhattan was buzzing with the feverish zeal of the holidays.  Riley slowed her pace to catch her breath. Tomorrow I’ll find the courage to take the subway. Maybe. She tugged her coat tighter across her chest to ward off the chilly air and silently hoped that nobody would figure out that she’d purchased her outfit on Outnet.com, an online designer outlet store. She felt like such a hypocrite, heading to her first day at her new job as one of world-renowned designer Josh Braden’s assistants wearing discounted clothing. The thought turned her stomach—but not as much as showing up in her hometown jeans and cowgirl boots would have. She was a long way from Weston, Colorado, and she’d spent the last few weeks gathering discount designer clothes and practicing omitting “y’all” from her vocabulary.
She stood before the thick glass door of Josh Braden Designs and took a deep breath. The sign above the door read, JBD. This is it. She closed her eyes for a split second to repeat the mantra she’d been playing in her mind like a broken record for weeks: I’m educated, knowledgeable, and eager. I can do this.
A warm hand on her lower back pulled her from her thoughts.
“Have any trouble finding us?” Josh Braden stood beside her with a friendly smile and perfectly shorn, thick dark hair. His black Armani suit fit his lean, muscular frame perfectly. A few years earlier, he’d been named one of America’s Most Eligible Bachelors. Back then she hadn’t given the magazine cover a second thought. He was in New York, and she was back in Colorado, so far removed from him that she’d still thought of him as Josh Braden, the boy she’d had a crush on for too many years to count. Now, standing on the streets of New York City beside the man whose name rivaled Vera Wang, she felt the air sucked from her lungs.
His deep voice sent a shiver right through her. Not only had she had the good fortune to be reconnected with Josh when he was back home visiting his family, but during his visit, the two of them had also spent a few days getting reacquainted. Riley hadn’t been sure if it was her crush going haywire or if there was something more real blossoming between them, but those few days had each felt a little more intimate than the last. And while their lips never touched and their bodies remained apart, she’d felt like they were always one breath away from falling into each other’s arms.

Billionaire CEO Dylan Truex was burnt out. Not from his empire, DIRTY GAINS, but from his celebrity status. Having the body he did as well as the motivation to lead the pack, was no longer all it was cracked up to be. Heading to Estes Park for a two-week getaway all by himself sounded like the perfect solution to all his problems. Until he arrives and finds that the condo has been double-booked. Sharing the condo, he can handle. Cute blondie tempting him to break his no-sex bet, err…
When Lina Armstrong runs away from her old life—walking out on her job and leaving behind her family—the best thing she can do is reclaim her true self. No boss. No family. No men. No anybody. Then comes handsome stranger Dylan Truman threatening to wreck her alone time at Pine Lake. Yeah, he’s cute and all, but so are the elk and that doesn’t mean she wants to share a condo with them.
When the blizzard hits and whiteout conditions make it unsafe for either of them to go anywhere, they are forced to stay put in the condo together. What started off as a bad thing, starts to turn into something good. Two weeks with this cocky hard body? Alright, if she must.
It shouldn’t be a problem as long as she can keep her hands to herself and stop imagining if his tongue has as much stamina as the rest of his body.

My Thoughts:

Dylan Truex believes in a health regimen but is he doing it for the right reasons.  He shows how much social media can affect someone’s life.  It gets better though when he decides to get away for a while.  Lina Armstrong isn’t easily impressed.

The author slowly reveals some of the things these two have in common. While that’s going on she also slowly builds up the heat between our two mismatched characters.  Let’s just say that if I had the room I’d be looking into a wood-burning fireplace.  Loved the giggle moments.  They had me looking forward to more.  Also loved the tension and uneasiness that showed through.

I’ve seen guys like Dylan in the gym.  You know the ones.  You can picture them rubbing their abs (to make sure they didn’t go anywhere) and then the imagery of him kissing his guns.  You know the ones.  They always work out in front of the mirror.  The ones that aren’t just making sure they’re doing their form correctly.  Oh, and let’s not forget the big jug with their favorite workout drink.  That’s not to say that I don’t appreciate looking at the fruits of their labor and they certainly helped me in forming an image of Dylan.  And don’t get me started on ego.

Once I get past that image, I start to get a look at Lina.  She’s a strong woman on the outside but she seems so timid on the inside - a little unsure of herself.  But she’s willing to step out of her comfort zone and go off by herself to try and reinvent herself.  Then our author puts temptation in her way.  I got so into the story that everything seemed to disappear.  The cold was outside but it got nice and toasty in my living room.

There were just so many things that kept my attention.  First we have a man that I’m surprised there was enough room for him and his ego.  We have a woman who has shut herself off from everyone but does she have enough room in her heart to actually let someone in.  Even Mother Nature has a role in this story and with winter right outside my window it helped to create the perfect backdrop.  My climax was when I got to the romantic ending – yes, Dylan did redeem himself in my eyes- but I have other billionaires to check out in the series.  I also have an author who happens to have other books that I can check out.

Ashley Bostock was born and raised in Colorado where she currently resides with her husband, two children and her animals. She loves reading, writing, and music and is always trying to find more time in the day to incorporate all three.

Seeking an outlet and pursuing her life-long passion for writing, she began composing her first novel in 2013. She has traveled all over the world, but still has an extensive list of places she would love to visit. Anywhere near a sky-blue ocean will always be at the top of that list.

She carries a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a concentration in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College of Denver. While she loves children, she now fears teaching, which probably has something to do with being a stay-at-home mom.

She is mostly active on Instagram, but feel free to follow her at any or all of her social media pages!

My Thoughts:

Riley Banks is starting a new adventure.  Josh Braden has things he both loves and hates about his job.  This could be considered a second chance romance since they knew each other way back when.

If you’re a fashionista than this story may be of some interest.  There was one character that had me thinking of the Kardashians.  Not necessarily when I was getting to know Riley but there was a secondary character that just seemed like she would fit right in.  And it might make me bad but one reason I kept turning the page was because I so wanted to see her get her just desserts.

This story is different from a lot of other stories that I’ve read by this author.  The difference being that I didn’t feel a connection to the main characters.  But that’s ok because that didn’t stop my enjoyment of getting to see their relationship blossom in a big city.  And it’s not hard thinking of fashion when you think of New York.  How you look and dress seems to be important.  It’s also a city that comes with a lot of pressure.

One thing I liked about this story is that the author didn’t come right out and say exactly what size Riley was.  Women aren’t all the size of the models that go down the runway but they can still be sexy no matter the size – o’naturale can be just as sexy.  I don’t know if the author will find it a compliment or not but she does a great job at creating a nasty viper of a character.  You could picture this character working her way through the industry.  And one that I would stay very far away from – she’s the perfect maneater.  But the flipside of that was the friendship and bonding that you could see growing between Riley and Josh.

The Bradens have another side that shows up in the author’s other series.  This is one occasion where I’m glad that I haven’t read the heated version yet.  I got to know the characters here first and experience their happy ending without going in and filling in the blanks from another book.  But now that this one is in my finished library, I can now go back and read Friendship On Fire.
