Workaholic insurance attorney Luke Darringer has it all: money, looks, ambition. Sure, he hasn't taken a vacation in over a decade, and his personal life is almost nonexistent - but that's a small price to pay in order to maintain strict control, and minimize his vulnerabilities.

But then Luke's firm, with the help of his cheeky administrative assistant Charlotte, strong-arms him into becoming the first-ever client of the new Dreamscape Adventures, Inc. The new company promises fantastical vacations to wealthy clients, as well as controlled therapeutic experiences to individuals suffering from various forms of mental illness, such as autism and PTSD. They're a potentially huge client for Luke's firm, but they need liability insurance before they can get off the ground. Luke expects he'll have a quick little canyoneering adventure like he did back in his college days, and then get right back to the grindstone.

But Luke's adventure doesn't quite go the way he planned. Eli, the entrepreneur in charge, assures Luke that the glitches are nothing to worry about, and they'll have things under control again in no time. Instead, Luke soon finds himself in a wilderness of questionable reality, where he is responsible not only for his own safety, but also Charlotte's, Eli's, and that of a nonverbal autistic boy whose vulnerability strikes a bit too close to home. Forced to confront his past and his deepest fears, Luke must decide whether to rewrite history and become the man he's always wanted to be - or whether instead he is doomed to repeat it.

Matthew has been very active in his career as a radiologic technologist, but something was nagging at him. His urging to be involved with the written word. The medical journals he wrote did not fill the desire for the kind of words he wanted to be a part of. He had always considered himself a writer. But one that often had difficulties completing the story. So, how else could he be involved? Matthew began listening to audiobooks and decided in 2017 that he was going to give it a try.

He now has 9 audiobook projects on sale at Amazon, Audible, and iTunes with two projects in the works.

Ms. Gray has given me quite the adventure. First she gives me a character that I started out wondering if I would ever like him. He seemed bound and determined not to like what was going to happen to him. Then we meet his assistant. You start to wonder why she stays working for a man who seems so self-absorbed. You continue because you wonder what the author plans for the character's/and our adventure. I was impressed that the author included a character that has a disorder. We see that the characters aren't perfect and that's just the way I like it - it helps make the story seem more real.

Mr. Berry may not have me thinking of either of the main characters while listening to him. He did however help while picturing the scenes as they went by. And I could picture him being a secondary character keeping us up to date on all the goings on.

I thought this more fantasy and science fiction than paranormal. This is a story that I could see becoming real at some time in time. After all, if an author can be so creative to come up with a dream adventure why can't someone take her idea and run with it. Thinking back to some of the old shows I grew up with, I could see this becoming a part of a series. Each week would be another adventure. Maybe there would be a part of the plot that they find themselves needing to get out of trouble.

Our author creates suspense, hints of romance, and plenty to get you caught up in what's going on. Will things turn out ok? How would we get ourselves out of the same situation? Would you go to the company and ask them to create you an adventure? Will you follow this author and see what else she has to offer?

Audiobookworm Presents: Jaguar by C.A. Gray; #AudiobookBlogTour, #NowAvailable, #OutNow, #TBR, #Review

Series: Uncanny Valley Series, Book 3
Publisher: Wanderlust Publishing
Released: Sep. 14, 2018
Length: 9 hours 48 minutes

The Silver Six have blown the Renegades’ underground compound to bits, killing several of Rebecca’s best friends in the process - and to her horror, the boy Rebecca had convinced herself she loved for all these years was the one to betray them all. At the same time, General Specs, the company Liam was once slated to inherit, has developed a super intelligent robot called Jaguar which is quickly becoming godlike in her omniscience. As the remaining Renegades flee to their last bastion of safety in the Caribbean, Liam makes his way back to London, in a last ditch effort to convince his father to destroy Jaguar before it’s too late.

Rebecca, meanwhile, finally understands her own heart: she never loved Andy. He was merely a "safe" choice who would never require anything of her. Liam, on the other hand, exasperating as he was, had seen past her defenses. All of his teasing and provoking had been his attempt to get her to be real with him - but the more he made her feel, the further she had retreated. She had even substituted her companion bot Madeline for real, deep human friendships, and for the same reason: she’d been avoiding love to protect herself from another loss like the one she had experienced when her father was killed for the Renegades’ cause. Ironically, she only realizes this once Liam is on his way to a similar fate. But she’ll be damned if she lets him go without a fight.

This high stakes conclusion to the Uncanny Valley Trilogy envisions a world not too far off from our own, in which super intelligence is a reality, humanoid bots have supplanted human power and influence, and there are eyes watching and reporting our every move. If humanity is to survive, the Renegades will have to galvanize support across the globe, under the radar - and it will require every last bit of ingenuity they possess. But is attempting to outwit a super intelligent being really the answer? Or will it require something much more fundamentally human?

I'm so glad that I listened to the last book in the trilogy. But I also had a disappointment because I picked up this series in the middle. In no way did I feel lost by not having read book one but as I was listening to this last book, I felt like I cheated myself by not starting the Uncanny Valley from the very beginning.

In this book, I got to hear more of what these characters were feeling - the puzzle they needed to solve. There were so many twists and turns but none that had me questioning what was going on. I was happy with my listening experience this time because Ms. Williams didn't seem to get as high pitched as I found in The Silver Six. It made it much more pleasurable to listen to. A few times she did get that high pitch into the story but it didn't happen quite as often as it did in book two - that meant that I didn't have to continue to adjust the sound level. Ms. Williams also left me wondering where our author was going to go from here.

Ms. Gray had me on the edge of my seat quite a few times with this story. I did get frustrated a few times with the book because I never had a good place to stop. When you're listening to a book like this doing it as you're going to and from work may not be the best plan. You don't have a choice as to where you're going to stop because your boss walks in the door. The only thing you can do is being glad when you can turn it back on again.

I grew up loving science fiction. One thing that I loved about the genre was that anything was possible and it had me question as to whether this is what our future will be. Ms. Gray has me bringing that question up again. Will we have our own Silver Six especially with us exploring Mars and the talk of habitating the moon? She reminds the reader that our young people are our future and what they do with that future will be a wait and see game. And she shows us what can happen when you play with something that we probably shouldn't have in the first place. We can't lose our humanity for the sake of progress.

Rebecca Cordeaux's entire world has been turned upside down. In a single day, she's learned that Senate Leader Halpert and his board of advisors are actually illegal humanoid robots created underground 20 years ago - and they tried to have her killed. Her mother, Karen, whom she always believed to be passionately against the cause of the Renegades, turns out to be their leader. And Liam, a man she never thought she cared for, is now fighting for his life - and she finds that she cares desperately.

Fortunately, Karen, known to the Renegades as M, has planned for exactly this sort of eventuality. Using Rebecca's father's blueprints, Karen patiently built an underground compound in an abandoned part of the Americas where they can regroup and plan for the coming war. The compound becomes an unlikely oasis as their number grows, both on accident and on purpose.

In attempting to recover her best friend and companion bot, Madeline, Rebecca gets what she thought she'd always wanted: Andy arrives at the compound, too, along with her friends Jake and Julie. But with the sudden addition of an old flame from Liam's past, Rebecca discovers just how little acquainted she has been with her own heart.

Meanwhile, the Silver Six are running a worldwide campaign of indoctrination to ensure that the people are on their side. In the name of peace, they want nothing more than to wipe out every shred of resistance while pursuing their ultimate goal of robotic superintelligence. With the assistance of a neuroscientist who helped to build the Silver Six decades ago, Rebecca attempts to understand how synthetic minds work, hoping this information can be used against them. She's sure the mysterious, brilliant, and beautiful Alessandra Russo is the key somehow, but Alex's hatred for the Silver Six is only matched by her hatred for the Renegades.

Can the Renegades find and exploit the weakness of the Silver Six before synthetic intelligence passes the point of no return?

This was a story that could very well be our future. Since i won't be around, I'll just have to take my word for it. It reminded me of the science fiction shows that I used to watch growing up. The one thing I wasn't happy about was that the book came to an end. The good thing is that I've got the third book in my library ready to go. But I did feel slightly shortchanged since I haven't read book one - will have to get that changed.

I thought that Ms. Williams did a good job at bringing both the character, Rebecca Cordeaux, and her world to life. She sucked me into the story so that I felt a part of what was going on. The issue I had was that Rebecca seemed to have a high pitch voice. For people that are hearing sensitive, it makes it hard to concentrate on what she's saying. I kept having to play with the volume which did take a iittle away from what was going on. I'm interested to see if that continues in book three.

This book shows what a creative mind Ms. Gray has. She takes us on a journey into a world where bots have a humanoid appearance as well as thoughts. The book/movie from my youth was 2001: A Space Odyssey. This book takes it a step further. It might be a warning of what could happen if we're not careful. By the time I got to the end, I decided that having an "e" copy of the book wouldn't be a bad thing.

With the help of a skeptical anthropologist, the Watchers attempt to decode the ancient treasure maps that lead them to the heart of Egypt and the dawn of time.
