Blurb:

I should have died.

I should have been forgotten.

But I didn’t, and I wasn’t.

Living the life most women only dream about, I was madly in
love with my soulmate—Asher Valentine—amazing husband, loving father, and rock’s favorite kick-ass front man. A man who loved me every day, in every way, since we first met as teens. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter who was the light of our life. My all-female rock band was tearing up
the charts.

Then tragedy struck, and I lost it all.

Now all I have is a stack of journals, an antique key, and a black void where my memories should be.

Used to be.

And I have him—this man with wild hair, tattoos from head to
toe, a soft voice, and an even softer touch that gives me butterflies. He’s clearly hopelessly in love with his wife.

I’m told that’s me.

But that wife is gone, and she took everything they once had, leaving me in her place.

A broken replacement. A new version that doesn’t quite fit.

I’m slowly falling in love with him, but will he ever truly love me? Or will he forever be in love with her, the phantom woman who haunts us both?

My Thoughts:

The author has written a note to the reader.  It will only take a moment of your time.  Please do not skip over it in order to rush right to the story.

Asher Valentine is in a peaceful place but doesn’t feel at peace.  The personal life of a celebrity couple is something that we rarely get to see.  We see what they’re willing to share with their fans.  Personal pain is rarely seen and family usually stays in the background.

Dreams may be a hope for the future.  It could involve a crush or a loved one.  Some may think they’re powerful enough to feel real.  Dreams can also affect our emotions.  At times emotions run so high here that tissues may become a necessity – you can always say that something was in your eye.  They can also be frustrating.

The author does a great job of keeping things moving so that the scenes won’t feel as if they’re standing still.  Telling this story in the first person was a smart idea.  The reader will know what the main characters are feeling and thinking.  In a small way I can relate to Ember.  For about the last six months part of my mind has been locked away.  And I have to thank the author for changing that.  I think that I was meant to read about Ember in order to open that part of my mind that went to sleep for a little while.  Depending on your situation you may feel the same way.

For some it might be a painting.  For others it might be a movie.  And then there are those where words help to create something magical.  And that magic found its way to me.  It’s a story that will get you to think about things.  It’s a story that at the very least will touch your heart.  It will grab it and not let go until you find the peace that comes at the very end – and don’t be surprised if you end up with a smile on your face.
