Lee Tobin McClain read Gone With The Wind in the third grade and has been an incurable romantic ever since. The PW bestselling author of eight contemporary romances for Harlequin Love Inspired and twenty independently-published novels and novellas, she recently contracted with Harlequin HQN to write three mainstream romance novels, coming in 2019. When she's not writing, she's probably cheering on her daughter at a gymnastics meet, mediating battles between her goofy goldendoodle puppy and her rescue cat, or teaching aspiring writers in Seton Hill University's MFA program. She is probably not cleaning her house.

Blurb:

He always gets his way…until he meets his match.

“I need you back. Now.” —William Walker

I can’t believe I’m letting my ex-boss talk me into working for him again. He’s arrogant. Domineering. He gets under my skin in ways I don’t want to admit. When I quit, it felt great! But now, seeing the big, bad billionaire rendered helpless by a baby, I give in to his demand. And I’m worried it won’t be the last time… —India Crowley

My Thoughts:

India Crowley has other aspirations other than her current job.  William Walker is a tough man to please.  As they disclose who they are to each other is how the reader will get to know them.  This is why the first person point of view works so well here.

If you are someone who likes connecting with the characters, India is much more approachable and more likable.  William is more standoffish and all about business.  The author makes him come to a stop when she puts someone in his path that will force him to reevaluate his priorities.

This might fit your office romance fix but it’s more about our couple’s interactions outside the office that will catch your attention.  You’ll see a spark and then as the scenes go by you’ll see that spark brighten.  I liked the fact that India started to speak up for herself but found that certain things that she wanted in her life almost disappear – especially when they are a part of who she is.  With William, we get to see him mellow out and actually find a way to enjoy the people in his life.

William’s brother and sister-in-law make an appearance.  If you haven’t already, you may want to check out their story in the book titled Boss.  It must be a Walker thing because when I was first introduced to Kit I thought he was a jerk.  With William I had the same impression.  I didn’t see anything anywhere to say that these two books are a part of a series but family connects them.  I don’t know if our author is going to connect another book but I’m interested to see if India’s friend Montana shows up somewhere in the future.  One other thing these two books had in common is the heat the couples have.

Katy Evans is the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of over a dozen novels, starting with her blockbuster debut romance, Real. She writes sexy contemporary romances with smoldering hot alpha males.
